Mini kickers
(Ages 3-5)
Our Mini Kickers program is where soccer begins for the youngest players. At Open Goal, we know that a child’s first experience with sports can shape how they feel about physical activity for years to come. That’s why Mini Kickers is designed not just for fun, but for comfort, confidence, and growth at every child’s pace.
Unlike traditional programs that rush into drills or emphasize competition, Mini Kickers focuses on play, routine, and positive reinforcement. Each session follows a familiar structure so kids know what to expect, which helps them feel secure. We use colorful visuals, music, and simple games to guide activities, knowing that young children learn best when their senses are engaged in a clear and consistent way.

💙
Why Your Child Belongs Here
At the heart of Mini Kickers is our belief in Patience and Understanding. Progress looks different for every child, and we never rush. Our coaches model empathy and encouragement, teaching kids that it’s okay to stumble, try again, and discover joy in the process.
Finally, we’re grounded in Community and Connection. Families and children alike are welcomed into a team that values inclusion, kindness, and shared growth. Soccer is the activity, but the true outcome is belonging — a chance for every child to feel that they are part of something bigger.
For new families
We offer a first trial session to make sure this program is the right fit for your child. To secure your spot, full registration is required in advance. If after the trial you decide the program isn’t the right match, we provide a full refund—no questions asked.
What to expect
Mini Kickers is designed with our youngest players in mind. Each week follows a simple, predictable routine that helps little ones settle in and feel safe. Sessions begin with playful warm-ups—think silly movements, music, and games—and gently move into beginner soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, and moving with the ball. Kids also practice taking turns, following simple instructions, and working together in fun group activities. Every effort—whether it’s a first kick, a big smile, or just showing up ready to try—is celebrated. Families are welcome nearby for comfort and reassurance, especially as little ones adjust to being part of the group.
Preparing for play
We know that starting something new can feel big at this age. That’s why we partner with families to make the transition as smooth as possible. For children who benefit from extra support, we offer simple tools like visual cues, gentle reminders, or playful pre-session routines to help them feel ready. Our goal is to create an environment where every child—shy or bold, cautious or energetic—feels safe, supported, and excited to join in.
✨ Why parents love it
Mini Kickers is about more than soccer—it’s about joy, connection, and growth. Parents love the small group sizes, patient and playful coaching, and the way each session combines movement with important life lessons like sharing, listening, and building confidence. Most of all, they love watching their child discover the joy of play, make new friends, and leave each class smiling, proud, and eager to return.

Uniforms
Each child enrolled will receive an official Open Goal Soccer shirt as part of their registration. This shirt helps every player feel included and part of the team from day one. Players should wear comfortable athletic shorts, socks, and either sneakers or cleats depending on the playing surface. (Sneakers are required for indoor sessions.) Extra shirts are available for purchase if needed.
Location
Our sessions are held at Flushing Meadows Park in the heart of Queens, NY, with the option of nearby parks when needed. We love giving children the chance to play on open grass fields, where they can move freely and enjoy the game in a natural outdoor setting. During the colder months, we may bring sessions indoors so players can continue to learn, grow, and have fun in a safe, comfortable environment. Families will always receive the exact field location before the semester begins, making drop-off and pick-up simple and stress-free.

To support our families, missed sessions may be made up within the same semester only, based on coach availability. If your child needs to miss a class, just reach out to us and we’ll do our best to find a make-up time that works. This way, every child stays on track while keeping our programs consistent and fair for all families.
