Weather and Cancellation PolicY

Last updated: 9/18/2025

At Open Goal Soccer, the safety and well-being of your child always come first. While we do everything possible to ensure consistency in our programs, outdoor soccer is sometimes impacted by weather conditions. Our Weather & Cancellation Policy is designed to keep children safe, respect family schedules, and stay true to our values of inclusion, patience, growth, belonging, and safety.

1. Weather Safety First

Sessions may be delayed, rescheduled, or canceled in the event of:

  • Extreme heat or cold where conditions are unsafe for children.
  • Unsafe field conditions (e.g., flooding, ice, poor visibility).

  • Heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, or severe wind.

Decisions will be guided by local weather advisories and U.S. Soccer safety recommendations.

2. Notification Process

Families will be notified at least 2 hours before a scheduled session whenever possible.

Notifications will be sent via email, text message, or phone call, depending on the family’s preferred method of contact.

3. Make-Up Sessions

If a session is canceled due to weather, Open Goal Soccer will make every effort to schedule a make-up session within the same semester.

Make-ups may be held on an alternative day/time, or combined with another group session when appropriate.

4. Program Cancellations

If weather or field conditions result in the cancellation of multiple sessions, families will receive either:

  • A pro-rated refund, or

  • A credit toward a future program.

5. Parent Partnership

We encourage families to use their judgment as well. If conditions feel unsafe for your child, you may opt out of a session and contact us to discuss a make-up opportunity.

🌟 Our Commitment

Weather is unpredictable, but our commitment to your child is not. By prioritizing safety, communicating clearly, and offering flexible solutions, we ensure that every child can continue to grow, play, and belong — rain or shine.
