Health & Safety Policy
Last Updated: 9/18/2025
At Open Goal Soccer, your child’s safety is not just a policy — it’s a promise. Families trust us with their children’s growth and well-being, and we take that responsibility to heart. Our Health & Safety Policy is designed to ensure every player, parent, and coach feels secure, cared for, and supported while participating in our programs.
1. Safe Coaching & Supervision
-
All coaches and staff complete background checks and participate in ongoing safety training (including first aid, CPR, and SafeSport practices).
-
We maintain age-appropriate coach-to-player ratios to ensure each child receives the attention and care they need.
-
Coaches are trained to recognize signs of fatigue, injury, and distress, and will always prioritize safety over performance.
2. Emergency Preparedness
-
A first aid kit is available at every session.
-
Coaches maintain access to emergency contacts and know the exact field or park address for emergency services.
-
In case of injury or illness, families will be notified immediately, and appropriate medical steps will be taken.
3. Hydration, Weather, and Environment
-
Players are encouraged to bring water bottles and take frequent breaks, especially in warm weather.
-
During extreme weather (heat, thunderstorms, snow, air quality alerts), sessions may be rescheduled or canceled in the interest of safety.
-
Playing surfaces are inspected before each session to reduce risk of slips, falls, or unsafe conditions.
4. Illness & Participation
-
Children who are unwell (fever, contagious illness, flu-like symptoms) should remain at home until fully recovered.
-
If a child becomes ill during a session, they will be safely supervised until a parent/guardian can pick them up.
-
Open Goal follows health guidelines from NYC Parks, CDC, and local authorities.
5. Equipment & Gear
-
Players should wear appropriate clothing and footwear (sneakers or cleats, shin guards where applicable).
-
A uniform shirt is provided to foster belonging and team identity.
-
Coaches check that equipment (goals, balls, cones) is safe and appropriate for the age group before use.
6. Commitment to Emotional Safety
-
Health & safety extends beyond the physical. Coaches are trained in inclusive and adaptive practices to ensure every child feels safe emotionally and socially.
-
We actively promote a positive environment free from bullying, intimidation, or exclusion.
7. Communication with Families
-
We partner with parents to keep children safe. Please let us know of any medical conditions, allergies, or additional needs at registration so we can plan accordingly.
-
Families are encouraged to reach out at 📧 hello@opengoalsoccer.com or 📞 (347) 496-6211 with any health or safety concerns.
