Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: 9/18/2025
At Open Goal Soccer, nothing matters more than the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child. Families trust us not only to teach soccer but to create an environment where children are protected, respected, and celebrated. This policy outlines the standards we uphold to safeguard every child in our care.
1. Our Commitment
Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued on and off the field.
Safeguarding is not an add-on; it is at the heart of everything we do.
We uphold the highest standards of care in line with U.S. Soccer guidelines, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, and local child protection laws.
2. Code of Conduct
All Open Goal Soccer staff, coaches, and volunteers are required to:
-
Treat every child with dignity, patience, and respect.
-
Avoid favoritism, bullying, shaming, or exclusion of any kind.
-
Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
-
Report any concerns or violations immediately.
3. Staff Training & Screening
All staff complete background checks before working with children.
Coaches and staff receive ongoing training in:
-
Child safety & protection
-
Mandatory reporting obligations
-
Inclusive & adaptive coaching practices
-
First aid and emergency protocols
4. Safe Interactions
A minimum of two adults are present during group activities whenever possible.
One-on-one coaching (e.g., One Goal program) is conducted in visible, safe, and parent-approved locations.
Parents are welcome to observe any session and are encouraged to stay engaged in their child’s journey.
5. Recognizing & Reporting Concerns
Any concerns about a child’s safety or well-being will be taken seriously.
Staff are mandatory reporters and must follow legal requirements to notify the appropriate child protection services if abuse or neglect is suspected.
Families may also report concerns directly to 📧 hello@opengoalsoccer.com or 📞 (347) 496-6211.
6. Online Safety
We protect children’s privacy by never sharing names, images, or personal details online without written parent/guardian consent.
Communication between staff and children happens only through parent-approved channels.
🌟 Our Promise
At Open Goal Soccer, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. By combining clear policies, strong training, and open communication, we create a culture of trust where kids are free to play, grow, and shine — knowing they are safe, supported, and protected.
